DOUBLE DELIGHT FOR
DESPERATE PARENTS

Riaan and Juhalette van Rensburg are the proud parents of three healthy boys: Stefanus Johannes (2) and twins Zander and Zarius (2 months). Although it may not seem so, Juhalette's story is filled with the same pain and frustration shared by most women struggling with infertility. Juhalette suffers from endometrioses and had a painful miscarriage in 2002 at the age of 23.

She then went on two courses of fertility drugs prescribed by her gynaecologist. “The drugs had a terrible effect on me and made me feel so depressed,” says Juhalette. Time and again after the first two weeks of her cycle on the drugs she got excited, thinking it must have worked, but when she started menstruating in the fourth week she felt lower than before. 
Juhalette’s mother in-law, worked for Dr. PJ Venter and suggested she see him. “A friend of mine also confirmed homeopathic medicine did wonders to ease her pregnancy and I decided to give it a try.”

Dr. Venter first helped her to shed extra weight and after a three month course Juhalette was pregnant with SJ. “We thought it would be easier to get pregnant after SJ, but it was a struggle again so we returned to Dr. Venter in 2007.” This time it took nearly six months of treatment before they heard the joyful news that Juhalette was pregnant. For the first three months, both parents were under the impression it was a single pregnancy. “When we went for the 12 week scan I could see a second head but thought it was just my imagination. When the doctor confirmed my thoughts I burst into tears, because it was such a wonderful surprise.”

“Natural medicine is definitely the way forward for our family,” Juhalette exclaims. “It doesn’t make you depressed, it really feels normal and assists with your health in general and not only your hormones.” She also describes how sickly SJ was after being born and how often he needed to go to the doctor. He went to the doctor’s three times in one week at one stage before Riaan decided he had had enough and took him to Dr. Venter. SJ hasn’t been ill since.

Having a two year old and twins is not an easy task and mother-in-law Ria helps out during the day. After a hard day’s work at the office Riaan jumps in to assists with the evening run, but their home in Kempton Park is filled with so much joy and love that it is hard not to get teary-eyed when you see Juhalette holding her two new-born babies in her arms.
